Our business partner, Artesient, seeks Business Solutions Architects to work with client information technology (IT) and business users to create solutions that meet business objectives, reduce cost and complexity, and/or save costs and improve profits.
Job Objective and Purpose: Business Solutions Architects work with client information technology (IT) and business users to create solutions that meet business objectives, reduce cost and complexity, and/or save costs and improve profits. Position Responsibilities:
- Communicate with business users to identify requirements.
- Clearly articulate requirements to IT personnel and work with them to identify solutions that:
- Take advantage of existing IT assets and resources
- Meet business requirements
- Integrate with client's existing application portfolio
- Meet existing client technical architecture requirements
- Review business requirements, define components of target solutions, and identify existing package software products that will meet business requirements.
- Build business case for proposed solutions and "sell" proposals to client IT- and business-management.
- Lead projects through the stages of high-level design, scope definition, detail design, and delivery planning.
- Work with project manager during development and deployment phases to ensure that project meets design, schedule, and budget constraints set forth in initial project plan.
- Escalate problems and issues to project, department, and corporate leadership, as needed, to ensure that project meets design, schedule, and budget constraints set forth in initial project plan.
- Report progress and budget status to project sponsor and stakeholders.
Key Skill Requirements
- Strong business acumen
- Understand importance of capital and operational expenses in setting project budgets and their influence on solution design, project planning, and problem solving.
- Be able to read financial statements and converse with financial officers and business owners to build business case for projects and calculate project return on investment (ROI).
- Display forward thinking
- Consider new products, vendor-offerings, new and emerging technologies, changes in client industry, and how to best position client IT investments to take advantage of future developments.
- Understand Architectural Frameworks and Business Domain
- Understand project life-cycle and business-solution life-cycle.
- Understand available enterprise frameworks and their value to project execution.
- Select, modify (when necessary), and use design and delivery methodology.
- Understand operational frameworks and processes and how the business solution will be managed through and after deployment.
- Leverage deep knowledge of business domain
- Apply business domain knowledge and leverage ability to learn quickly.
- Demonstrate knowledge of business domain during problem definition, solution design and architecture, implementation planning, and user adoption phases of projects.
- Enhance current knowledge though research, participation in industry and support groups, and association with subject matter experts.
- Investigate new products and technologies
- Investigate new trends in technology and IT business applications.
- Provide topical and current opinions that are relevant to the current project phase.
- Work well with ambiguous and incomplete information
- Seek additional information to identify best approach for business solutions.
- During project execution, evaluate trade-offs and make decisions needed to ensure that solution continues to meet design, schedule, and budget constraints set forth in initial project plan.
Experience Required:
- Three to ten years of industry and/or consulting experience.
- Several years experience in the areas of: IT transformation; business process re-engineering; functional and technical design; package software selection; and system development, implementation, and testing.
- Understanding of business drivers; business operations including: processes, organizations, systems, and data; technology enablers, and industry vendors and applications.
Education Required:
Bachelor degree in Business or Computer Science MBA or similarly relevant advanced degree preferred
